York Town was one of the camp's for the revolutionary war, the war that gave us the freedom to be a free nation and not have to abide by Europe's rules. Me and my family had a lot of fun taking classes there and going on the tour.
During the tour we went into the farmers house and looked around. The tour guide asked about their beds and said, why do you think they are so short? No one knew so she said, back then people thought that if you slept flat in your bed, all your blood would go to the middle of your body. So they made the bed short so you would have to sleep sideways.

Next we went to the kitchen. We learned how they cooked back then and why they didn't cook in their house's. One of the reasons why they didn't cook in their house is because on hot days they didn't want to have a fire going. Another reason is cooking takes up a lot of space and their house wasn't but so big.
Then we went to the house that holds all the of the harvested tobacco. It might not look very valuable but each one of those leaves are really 100 dollar bills.
Each of these things above are the medicine that they used. The mother of the farm would make all the medicine by hand.
After going threw the museum we went to the military camp we learned about how to shoot a gun and the different commands they would practice before going into battle. Then we watched him shoot the gun.
Here's a birds eye view.
We also went in some of the tents and the tour guide told us that each of those tents housed from six to eight men maybe even more. Each man who joined the army had to sign a contract and it said they would get food to eat, clothes, a salary, and a place to live. All they had to do was fight in the army, nothing else. But when they got there it didn't look as wonderful as it sounded. Sure, they got a place to live but not only was it something like 8ft long by 5ft wide and 6ft tall but they had to share it with 6 to 8 other full grown men. They also got food, but not very often and it didn't look very apealling. They had to throw the food into a pot; beans, rice, meat, water, etc. and hard bread (that is bread cooked at a very low temperature for a long time). It lasts for a long time too, that's why they used it but it was as hard as rock and in order to eat it you would have to dip it in water, beer or what ever you had around. Sometimes they would suck on it if they didn't have any thing to dip it in. They did get a nice pair of clothes but it was only one pair. If they wore them out they wouldn't have another uniform to wear.
